Daily update 7-14-13

Well shit...looks like I've been forgetting to update this thing again. Oh well...its usually the same things anyway. Today I didn't get too far, just to the warehouse and back here to the 49er truck stop in Sacramento. I went over to the "Grocery Outlet" warehouse to grab my load. When get there I endure the extremely dry and smug security guard while checking in, drop my empty trailer and grab my loaded trailer. These loads are usually really heavy and overweight. Luckily they have a scale on site so driver's can check their axle weights. My steers and drives were ok, but the tandoms were 1500lbs overweight. So I pull around and move them back to the 40ft mark (California's limit on how far back the trailer tires can be aka "bridge law"), then reweigh the truck. The steers and drives are a little heavier now, but the tandoms are still overweight by 1100lbs. I park the truck and tell the security guard. He says, "tomorrow morning 6am". I asked him if he expected me to stay there that whole time (it was 3pm). He said, "yes, or drop it and have someone else come and get it". I called dispatch, and after being hold for 30mins I got the usually afterhours dispatch runaround and transferred to customer service because the load needs to be rescheduled. The CSR said how he'll send emails to all these different peeps, bla bla bla. I told him that I'm gonna leave the load there and take my empty with me. They were cool with that. Dispatch didn't/doesn't want to take me off this load. So, I came back here to the 49er with my empty (been doing this a long time and know that Reno will give me something else in the morning. Empty trailers are a hot commodity). I guarantee you that I'll get layover pay for this after a bunch of arm twisting. That's why Phoenix doesn't want to take this load off me. So they don't have to pay me. It's funny that in all of Northern California there are no loads they can put me on. Oh well, this actually works in my favor. Reno is just "over the hill", and they usually deadhead me back to Reno from Sacramento. Then attach those miles to the next load. We will see said the wise man.
