Daily Update: 11-15-14

Today's trucking adventure I went from Kingman, Arizona to Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
I have this thing anymore...when my alarm goes off, I go back to sleep. This has been going on for the past six months or so. I was never like this. I would always wake up before my alarm, and out the door within minutes. Now it's..."whatever, I'll get up when I feel like it".  It's like I don't even care anymore. I don't what's going on with me these days. Anywho, that's how today started. I set my work for 4:30am to offset the timezone difference. Right on the dot, my Timex Ironman watch goes off. I push the button then go back to sleep! A few hours goes by and I wake up again and feeling "blah". I tell myself I have to get up, go grab a bite then get my happy ass down the road. I go inside and order my usual, a Denver omlet w/cheddar, soft hashbrowns & Texas toast...sweet tea to drink. After I eat I go sit on the throne for awhile.
In the truck I update my logs and did a pretrip on the truck then headed out towards Texas. I get a little way down the road (I-40) and come across some fog. The weather report says there's supposed to be snow all along the 40 tonight and tomorrow. So, fog was to be expected. The fog cleared up after maybe twenty miles. I just kept driving until I reached the rest area that's a few mile inside New Mexico. My teeth were floating!!
The drive across Arizona was nice with some windy spots, but good overall. After my pitstop at the rest area, I continued East. Both my logs and fuel solution said I needed to stop in Albuquerque. I pull into the Flying J and get in line for "go-go juice". The guy I was behind must have been taking a shower or something because he was nowhere to be found. Another truck a few pumps over pulled up. I flipped on my flashers and moved over to that pump. After fueling and washing the windshield I parked on the bmbery last row, went inside to eat dinner. I had the "Chicken bacon classic" w/fries. It's a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon. It has so called "chipoltle sauce" on it as well. It's nothing more than spicy mayonnaise. It's really tasty.
After I eat, I return to the truck deciding on if I should stay parked or push on. I decided to push on.
Before I continue, let me say that it must be drunk Native day in Albuquerque. Let me explain...
Ok, I get on the highway. It's a real long ramp going down hill. I'm getting to the max of 63MPH that this truck can go. I have some jackass right behind me. I only knew he was there because of his headlights shining under the trailer. The on ramp becomes an exit lane almost as soon as it connects with the highway. I turn on my blinker while looking in my mirror. My second trailer (dude in car) starts to get over before I do, but I keep changing lanes. He gets back in the now exit lane, and races up beside me coming back over into my lane pushing me over. He was so close he could've reached and touched the truck with his hand!! I see him being super close in the mirror and move over a little and blare my horn. I have cars count up the other lane! I can't go very far. He runs out of lane and is forced to take the exit. He has his window down flipping me off and yelling something. He's some young Native dude. I don't know if he was drunk or just being an asshole, but he was acting drunk in his actions. Also, with the swerving of his wrecked a few times Dodge.
Next, is a few miles across town. There is a three car crash blocking the right two lanes. On top of that there is a broke down big truck blocking the hammer lane. All I saw with the wreck was airbags deployed and a highway patrol doing whatever he was doing. It appeared that people were playing bumper cars on the highway fucking up traffic for everybody else. The big rig simply broke down and couldn't move with the towtruck.
As I'm typing this I remember a head-on collision I saw on a frontage road just before I crossed into New Mexico. It was on Tribal Land. There were a bunch of Natives and emergency personnel there. So, I assume those involved in that wreck were drunk. The one black SUV was in the opposite lane. Both vehicles were destroyed!
Back to Albuquerque...
Ok, so I've been pushed over by an idiot, got stuck in traffic by three other idiots. I get the red Volvo back up to 63 and traffic is flowing real good then all of a sudden brake lights!! I'm thinking, "now what?". I get up to where everybody decided to stop, and there is a Jeep Liberty on It's side that just flipped...on a straightaway!!! Yes they were Native and had to be drunk to flip their car on a straightaway. After rubber necking, I smash the gas and get the Hell out of there. I'm on a time limit and don't have time for BS. The rest of the drive was good with windy spots, like in Arizona.
I decided to shut down here at the T/A in Santa Rosa. I had maybe an hour left on my clock. I could've maybe reached Tucumcari, but the truck stops would've been full, like this one. I'm parked way over here in the dirt! Anyways, its cold and windy. I'm in the bunk under my sleeping bag with the heater blowing some melt plastic hot air. Good night. :)
