I stopped at the Pilot in Notions, Oregon to get fuel and do my 30 minute break. After my break was done, I continued North towards the Portland yard (approx 1hr away). I was to drop the Sears load at the yard so another driver could finish it for me. I didn't have enough hours to complete the load...
Somewhere between Brooks and Woodburn (approx 10 miles) the right rear outside drive tire grabbed a big bolt or nail. The tire broke off the rim and had a big split down the sidewall. I was unaware of it until the weighmaster stopped me at the scales and told me. He did a level 2 inspection on me and redtagged the truck. I took all my permits and CDL in the scalehouse and wrote me up.
I was at the scales for three (3) hours waiting on the T/A to send someone. The T/A is only about 2-3 miles North of the scales. The roadservice guy gets there right as the weighmaster is closing the scale for the night...midnight. The roadservice guy was real fast at changing the tire though. He was there maybe 30 minutes total and gone on his next call. Many props to him for the speedy work, but no props on having me sit there for so long before he showed up. Oh well, he said he was swamped with calls and came as fast as he could.
Just another day of trucking...
