TRUCKER LOG: Free Watermelon

Free Watermelon!!
Today after I finished my load at the Wal-Mart whse here in Hermiston, Oregon. I came to the Pilot, parked, went inside and choked down some "pukeDonalds"...either them or slobway. After I returned to the truck, I heard a couple drivers on the squak talking about watermelon on some flatbed truck. While I was listening the flatbed that's hauling the watermelons came into view. He parked and then said over the CB, "If anyone wants some melon, come on over. I'm gonna break one open". I sat there for a second to see if anyone would go. There was a couple guys. The flatbed driver came out and looked around. He noticed me looking and nodded me over. I go over and another driver smiles and says, "you can have that piece". It was a quarter of a melon! The big long ones with seeds! I grab it and start munching. The other drivers were talking shop about driving. I just ate my melon. It was a bit over ripe, but it was fresh from the field. I guess the farmer had a hard time finding a buyer or something. I didn't ask. Anyways, it hit the spot.
